J. Peter Wakeman, Esq.
J. Peter Wakeman is the President of Wakeman Law Group, Inc., a California law firm. He is certified as a specialist by the California Bar in Estate Planning, Probate and Trust Law. His practice is concentrated in the areas of estate and tax planning for high net worth individuals. Mr. Wakeman has attained the highest possible rating of AV© from Martindale-Hubbell©, an independent legal rating service, and is also rated as a “Super Lawyer” by Thomson Reuters.
Mr. Wakeman has written extensively on estate and tax planning and has been interviewed and quoted by publications as diverse as the Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Daily Journal and Standard and Poor's The Outlook. He co-authored an article entitled "Charitable Options: The Use of an Option Agreement to Facilitate Gifts of Real Estate to Charitable Remainder Trusts" which was published by Tax Management, Inc., in The Estates, Gifts and Trusts Journal. He has also written for the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate News published by the State Bar of California. Mr. Wakeman is also a frequent seminar speaker on topics involving tax and estate planning strategies.
Prior to starting the firm in 1987, Mr. Wakeman served as University Affairs Legal Counsel and Director of Planned Giving at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. While at Pepperdine, Wakeman was Adjunct Professor of Business Law at Seaver College and also taught at the School of Law.
Mr. Wakeman is a member of the State Bars of California and Florida, the American Bar Association, the Los Angeles and Ventura County Bar Associations, is the past Chairman of the Ventura County Community Foundation Technical Advisory Council, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley.
Mr. Wakeman received his BA from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, and his JD from Stetson University in St. Petersburg, Florida.

MICHELE DAVIS Administrative Assistant
Michele has been part-time with the firm for many years, helping in various areas. We have relied on her administrative abilities as our office has grown and changed.
MARY DREWERY Administrative Assistant
Mary started with Wakeman Law Group, Inc. in 1994. Her friendly voice is usually the first you hear when you call the office, and her smiling face will greet you as you walk through the office's Westlake Village doors. Mary lives in Thousand Oaks with her husband and their energetic dogs.
LINDA MARSTON Administrative Assistant
Linda joined the firm in February 2012. She is responsible for many of the back office activities including: mail, copy work, and document scanning. She also assists with answering the phones and making appointments. Linda has two daughters and lives in Thousand Oaks.
AMANDA MONSUE Administrative Assistant
Amanda has been with the Wakeman Law Group since 2008. She performs title research, prepares deeds and corporate filings, and also handles property tax/assessment issues. She is a member of the National Notary Association. Amanda graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a B.A. in English.
Megan Perry Administrative Assistant
Megan works closely with Paralegal Maryann Tomkovicz and assists her with office activities such as mail, document management, and phone calls. She holds a B.A. from Dominican University in San Rafael, CA.
JOY RHOADES Legal Assistant
Joy has worked alongside Mr. Wakeman since he founded the firm in 1987. She serves as the Office Manager, and oversees the production of all estate planning documents. Joy holds a B.A. from Pepperdine University, and she and her husband have two children.
MARYANN TOMKOVICZ Paralegal
Maryann began her employment with the firm in 2000. She has worked in the legal field for many years, specializing in all aspects of estate administration. She is an active Associate Member of the Los Angeles Paralegal Association, and resides in Ventura County with her daughter. Maryann is a California Licensed Professional Fiduciary and a National Certified Guardian.
GLORIA WARNER Administrative Assistant
Gloria started at Wakeman Law Group, Inc. in 2007 and is highly experienced in the legal world. Her administrative skills enable the client to receive the highest quality personal attention and follow-up service. Gloria received her B.S. from Northern Arizona University and lives in Ventura County with her husband and two daughters.
